We’ll be sculpting an ice lantern with 15 other design teams in a charity event called Frozen Lights which is a part of the World Design Capital 2012 program.   Frozen Lights will be a dramatic display of ice lanterns in Helsinki’s Senate Square to celebrate the Open Doors Weekend of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012.  To raise awareness of the important issue of the water footprint, the lanterns will visualise the amount of water used by people on a daily basis in Finland.  Alongside lanterns sculpted on site by renowned designers, everyone is invited to participate by creating their own ice lantern. How can I participate?  Frozen Lights shares World Design Capital Helsinki 2012’s vision of design as an open and collaborative process. Everyone who wishes to participate in the event. Here is what you can do to get involved: 1) Open category: Pitch your design skills and bring your own lantern to the event. 2) Lantern image contest on Facebook: Unable to come to the event? You can still participate by posting an image of your ice lantern on Wonderwater Facebook page. Vuokko Nurmesniemi and her jury will evaluate the best lantern in each of these categories.  Schedule: 9 am - 4 pm Lantern design workshops for designers (by invitation) 12 - 4.30 pm Bring your own lantern to Senate Square 4.30 pm Lighting of ice lanterns 5 -6 pm Jury evaluation +prize giving ceremony (open category & designers)  Wonderwater is working with WWF Finland for sustainable water footprint.
